Start Your Nullagine Experience

If you’re looking for amazing spots in Nullagine where you can book accommodation for all budgets, indulge in savoury takeaways to great dining experiences, discover captivating attractions, and experience different activities, these are some of the places to visit:

Nullagine

Nullagine is located 1,380 km northeast of Perth via the Great Northern Highway, 189 km northeast of Newman, and 100 km southwest of Marble Bar.

History

Nullagine, commonly spelt Ngullagine, was the local Aboriginal name for the river that runs through this tiny town. An ideal place to pause on the long drive between Marble Bar and Newman.

The place is nothing but a glimmer of its former self. It lies nothing more than a park, general store, library, telecentre, gym, police station, hotel and nursing post. It lies surrounded by red granite hills. However, the whole area comes alive with wildflowers in the spring.

Attractions

Nullagine Rest Stop

The location is in the centre of town opposite the pub. The Nullagine Rest Stop has complete facilities, including shaded BBQ areas and toilets, one of the ideal places to rest.

Lynas Lookout

The lookout gives a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding countryside. It's an easy walk from the Nullagine Hotel.

Nullagine Solar Power Station

Completed in 2011, the Nullagine Solar Power Station was built to combine solar technology with backup diesel generators. It's situated to the north of the town on Marble Bar Road.

Conglomerate Gorge

Located north of the town, the gorge was significant during Nullagine's brief gold mining boom. The Chinese gold miners built unusual walls as sluices nearby (in the gully to the north of the lookout). While common on other gold fields, the walls are found nowhere else in the Pilbara.

Nullagine Dam

You can find the Nullagine Dam north of the town, just off Marble Bar Road. The dirt road will lead you out to the viewing point of the dam and the dam wall.

Beaton's Creek Gorge and Daylight Pools

An ideal place to cool off and fossick for gold and precious stones. These beautiful waterholes, known as Beaton's Creek Gorge and Daylight Pools, are located on the west of the town on an unsealed road.
